A little word from the author:
So, it has been almost 3 months since I have given in to one of my favorite hobbies: role playing on messenger.  I became enamored of role playing several years ago and developed two of the characters you see here, Faust and Cendre.
During an innocent discussion with Amaltheren, a friend of mine, we started playing a couple of scenarios involving Cendre and Morquendi, her character.  Role playing is like smoking. Even if you stop, you always go back to it.
I enjoy role playing a lot because it gives me a little escape from the grayish taste of daily life.
It also enables me to keep a permanent link with my characters, to create new ones and to give them a 'real' life without having to draw a comic.
I like the interactions created when role playing, and when the characters interact well that is all the inspiration I need to take a pen and start drawing non-stop.

This collection is (almost) the living proof of it!
You will discover the result of our exchanges through sketches and texts describing the story and the characters.

Introduction
When Cendre's path crosses Morquendi's, seven years have passed since the Silva story. The kingdom of the Black Elves of Astaloke is in conflict with the human empire of Restaz and our heroin finds herself in the northern territories in the middle of war preparations.
The queen Lliane and her family take to the road, fleeing in front of the imperial army's advance. Their General in Command, Morquendi Echtelyon, is finishing up the organization of the Elven army at the Fort-Wolf fortress with the help of Solen, the commander of the secret services.
The king Anades has been dead for three years already and the political problems have been growing.
Thus Cendre arrives at Fort-Wolf in a tense atmosphere, only weeks before the deployment of the royal army. It has been almost one year since she has left her village and traveled the world in search of new medicines for her people. She has left behind Leyn, her 3 year old daughter, and started her way back home when war set the country alight.
The roads becoming dangerous, she has to withdraw north and take refuge in the Elven stronghold.

Saskia arrives at Fort Wolf to join the mercenary unit commanded by Lakiesis. Independent, phlegmatic and not very talkative, the warrior has a manly demeanor most of the time. With men, she is provocative. It looks like she's living a riotous life to the amusement of the soldiers and the annoyance of her captain.
Solen Ytul is the commander of the Ombreuses (Shadows), a group apart from the army similar to the secret services. He is an acidic and manipulative man who has only a few friends. His repeated insubordination to higher command won him the nickname of the 'Poison'. His genius and efficiency however have never been put into question and he is as disrespectful as necessary to the crone.  
When they meet, Solen is as cold and disagreeable as usual which does not fail to call out Saskia. Used to playing with her charms to make men give in, he will soon become a first choice attraction. Distant, the commander valiantly resists the repeating provocation of the beautiful woman who takes pleasure in tormenting him. He will eventually give up but that little game will have inevitably brought them closer. So much that Saskia will never look to lose herself in any other pairs of arms ever.

Saskia's unhealthy relation with men hides a sad truth…
She was kidnapped at 12 to become a prostitute in the city of Kurun.
In Kurun, the prostitutes were marked to show their specialities. There they 'depigmented' her skin.
She stayed 9 years before she managed to escape.

Jovial and outgoing, William Silva is immediately labeled as a happy devil by those who are around him. His good temper and smile wreak havoc amongst the ladies, but his attitude also hides the deep misery wearing him down since the death of his wife.
Eleandre is 19 and was recruited to help in the kitchens during the military campaign. She comes from a poor family and has to care daily for her father, an invalid widower. When her brother Eleas, page at the Royal Table, offer her to accompany him on the roads to follow the army, she promptly accepts. In this way she hopes to break away from her boring existence.
Needing company, William notices and seduces her. He is her first lover and she falls in love with him. Their relationship will not last, to the despair of the young woman.
When people guffaw in the rp, I cannot help but imagine that face!

In order to stay with Morquendi, Cendre leaves with the convoy of the big army in direction of the South. She travels with Lliane and William whom she becomes very close to. During the trip, she will show the first signs of a disease she knows far too well: the one which touches the exiled from Baalhiam. Tired, it is not uncommon for her to fall exhausted even during the day. Unable to stay on her saddle and to avoid slowing down the pace, she will then systematically ride with the prince.
On the way, during their long discussions, Cendre will discover a man much darker behind the theatrics he displays in public. William is a man eaten up by pain and who loses himself in all sort of excesses not to sink. Alcohol, women, futilities, his behavior sometimes turns childish and irresponsible.

The kitchens are Will's hiding place where he is more often than in his room.
The dragons
Here are Nayldrath and Messyse, two dragons which appear regularly in the story.
The first one is unpredictable and independent. He rarely obey the orders given by Morquendi whom he is bound to since birth. As a 'carrier' Morquendi can invoke the creature at anytime. When it does not have a material form, the dragon coexist as a spirit in the body of his host and can influence his behavior. In the past, the warrior has been through violent outbursts due to the presence of Nayldrath. This is why for a long time he feared and refused to invoke it.
The second one, Messys, is a smaller dragon. It is linked to Lakiesis, William's daughter. It is docile and at ease amongst humans.
Dragons can take three forms:
- immaterial, as a spirit
- material, as their original dragon form ( their size can vary but they are huge)
- material, as a reduced size  ( their size varies between that of a dog and a horse)
This is under that last form that Messyse usually accompanies Lakiesis and it is not unusual to see them together.

Lakiesis Silva, William's daughter, who commands the mercenary unit that Faust joins when he arrives at Fort-Wolf.
Titus is also a mercenary from his 2m12, he quickly established himself as one of the best warriors in the unit. He often trains with Faust and Lakiesis.

Iugo Valinn is captain but he is mostly Morquendi's right arm. He is an outstanding warrior, righteous and proud, descendent of a very old Dark Elves family. He is rigid and demanding, sometimes scornful with people from lower classes.
Kaede Iluve is one of the Ombreuses and the relay between the army officers and Solen Ytul when he is in a mission. As most Ombreuses, she has a deep animosity towards Echtelyon and his soldiers, the meeting with Valinn is explosive. Forced to work together for the campaign, they cordially hate each other.
Kaede will then discover far from brilliant secrets about the captain and his life which seems so well-ordered: a drifting marriage, lies, acidic resentments towards an existence which is not at all a success. The unbearable Valinn will become more human to her eyes and things will change. They will even become lovers after she managed to break all the barriers to make him talk.

Iugo Valinn and Kaede Iluve could not stand each other when they met…things have changed greatly!

After the great war and the triumphant victory of the Dark Elves over the Emipre of Restaz, Cendre and Morquendi hurry towards Baalhiam. Cendre, stayed away from her natal forest for too long, is once again victim of the whims of the disease. The only cure is to go back for some time in the lands where she was born.
Cendre does not live on the Giske island where the forest is, but close by, on the continent. After getting back to health under the ancient threes of Baalhiam, she will then at last go back to her village after one year away. She will find there her daughter, Leyn, who is soon 4. The reunion is both tender and explosive when the little one understands that Morquendi is the new man in her mother's life. Exclusive, Leyn will find ingenious ways to make their lives impossible.

Leyn is pouty, bossy and a daredevil. A tough temperament coming probably from her barbarian genes! XD
